Our method for making cold brew is so easy, it’s fail-proof. No, seriously. That’s why we’ve created a helpful series of blog posts that detail all of the supplies you’ll need (not many!), everything you need to do (not much!), and just some suggestions of things you can do with the results (a ton!).
First, the science behind the smooth: Iced Coffee Vs. Cold Brew
Simply put, iced coffee is exactly what it sounds like - regular brewed coffee over ice. All it takes is to brew your coffee as normal, cool it down and pour over ice. However, iced coffee ends up being extremely diluted.
Cold brew coffee takes it’s time...but it’s worth the wait! With cold brew, coffee grounds steep in cold to room temperature water for 12 to 24 hours. This slow method is what makes this variety super smooth, lower in acidity and more potent!
Rich in flavor, cold brew is gentle, smoother and lacks the bitterness associated with traditional coffee. Cold brew has everything you already love about coffee plus added bonuses such as less teeth staining, lower acid reflux, and greater amounts of antioxidants which are destroyed during the regular brewing process.
How to make the perfect cold brew with Tayst Coffee Pods
You don’t need any fancy equipment, or to train for hours to be a barista to get it right. Here is our simple 5-step recipe for the perfect cold brew at home, without the mess of standard cold brew!
Step 1. Place 5-7 Tayst Coffee Pods into a half gallon container. We suggest a mason jar with a lid, so you can give it a shake once in a while.
Step 2. Fill the container with a half gallon of filtered water. Try not to use plastic bottled water.
Step 3: Put the lid on the container and give your brew a good shake to ensure all the coffee from the pods have been soaked through. Chill the cold brew in the fridge overnight to allow it to steep to perfection.
Step 4. Enjoy your cold brew all week!
